Exposure/Location: : tall grass prairies, fields, meadows, ditches, pond edges, stream banks, swamps. Dry-moist, sand - clay soils, full sun- light shade.

Height/Spread: 90-180cm (3-6ft)

Bloom: can be as early as August, September, October, Purple ray petals with yellow/orange disc florets.  Very infrequently, one may find plants with pink flowers.

Comments: :very drought tolerant, important late season food source for pollinators, including migrating monarch butterflies and new bumblebee queens. Can be cut back mid season and it will still flower if desiring a shorter plant.
