Exposure / Location : Full sun - full shade. Fruits well with half a day of sun. Moist to dry soil.  Open to closed canopy forests, woodland edges, trails, streams, swamps.   

Height / Spread : 1 -1.3m / 3-4ft tall, 1m-1.5m / 3-5ft wide. 

Bloom : May / June. Clusters of drooping yellow flowers followed by edible black berries. Fruits reliably without supplemental water.

Comments : Juglone tolerant.  Butterfly host plant. Nice under story / forest edge shrub but can also grow in full sun.
