Exposure/Location: savannas, tall grass prairies, well drained sunny location, thrives in dry hot places.

Height/Spread : 60cm(2ft) tall, can be equally wide.

Bloom : June-August, bright orange sometimes yellow flowers clustered in an umbel shape.

Comments : host plant for the Monarch butterfly, sap is a clear liquid not like other milkweeds which secrete a milky sap.
